The Normally Open Float Switch provides dry run protection for the pump. If storage tank water reaches a minimum level, the Normally Open Float Switch closes and stops the pump from operating, protecting the pump from burning itself out. When the tank fills with enough rainwater for the pump to operate safely, the float switch opens and the pump continues operation. The switch is normally attached to the inlet pipe or the cistern pump.
